What is TechCred?

The TechCred program helps Ohioans learn new skills and helps employers build a stronger, more tech-savvy workforce.

  • Technology-focused credentials take a year or less to complete

Learn from Industry Experts

ASM International delivers high-quality education taught by subject matter experts in materials science and engineering. Courses are available in flexible formats—including live online and pre-recorded options. Live sessions are recorded for flexible access.

How Can TechCred Help?

TechCred reimburses Ohio employers up to $2,000 per employee per credential (course). Here’s how it works:

  1. Choose a course from ASM’s website
  2. Apply to the TechCred program through the State of Ohio
  3. Receive approval before training begins
  4. Complete the course and submit for reimbursement

How Does the Process Work?

  • Submit your TechCred application during an open grant window
  • Include the ASM course title, description, and objectives
  • Upon approval, the course will appear on the TechCred credential list

What Is a Credential?

A credential refers to a certificate or certification. ASM International offers certificate programs made up of individual courses that build technical expertise. TechCred grants can be applied to each course toward a full certificate.

What Makes a Credential Eligible?

  • Industry-recognized
  • Technology-focused
  • Short-term (under 12 months, fewer than 900 clock hours or 30 credit hours)

ASM’s credential programs meet all eligibility criteria.

What Is a Technology Credential?

These credentials demonstrate the skills required for roles involving science, technology, engineering, and innovation. Fields include:

  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Materials engineering
  • Data analytics
  • Software/hardware design
  • Cybersecurity
  • Emerging technologies

Credentials are approved by the State’s TECHREC panel and the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
