The ASM Chapter Council provides advice and guidance to ASM International regarding Chapters. The Council helps review the quality level of Chapters, acts as primary liaison between the Chapters and ASM HQ, and reviews governance issues (funding proposals, chapter rejuvenation, etc.) when applicable. Council provides an avenue for volunteers to participate in ideation and help plan and support the Chapter Officer Training Series (including Leadership Day).
Local Chapters oversee events and programs at the local level. If available, regional councils (such as India or Canada Council) work with the local Chapters in their respective area to provide guidance and coordination. The ASM Chapter Council works on the international stage, helping to formulate ASM’s overall Chapter strategy, furthering programs that benefit all Chapters. Local Chapters, Regional Councils, and Chapter Council all work to support the ASM Strategic Plan and advance ASM’s mission.
Even though there is always an opportunity for ASM Chapters to communicate with the ASM Board of Trustees via Trustee Visits, ASM Chapter Council serves as the main volunteer interface between the ASM Board of Trustees and all ASM Chapters. In summary, Chapter Council works for and with Chapter Leadership, Trustees, and ASM employees to strengthen Chapters.
The ASM Chapter Network is made up of 14 districts, with each district represented by a volunteer Chapter Council member. A member from India National Council and Canada Council also are invited to sit on Chapter Council. Questions, concerns, suggestions, and success stories should be directed to your Council Representative. Contact information for each member is listed below. If there is no representative for your district, consider reaching out to the next nearest district’s rep.
