For more than a century, ASM International has been known for developing new products and services that meet the needs of its members and the materials community. Here are some of the major ASM milestones of the past 100+ years.<\/p>\n
2023<\/strong><\/p>\n Three ASM journals \u2013 Journal of Failure Analysis and Prevention<\/em>, Shape Memory and Superelasticity<\/em>, and Metallography, Microstructure, and Analysis<\/em> \u2013 receive their first Impact Factors. With this achievement, all nine journals in ASM’s portfolio have Impact Factors.<\/p>\n 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n Sandy Robert, CAE, joins the ASM staff as the first woman Executive Director on January 1st. ASM launches the Data Ecosystem, AeroMat (ASM) and Aerotech (SAE) co-locate for the first time. The Henry Marion Howe Medal celebrates its 100th Anniversary; ASM Historical Landmark Award celebrates its 50th Anniversary.<\/p>\n 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n ASM Connect grows to over 5,000 engaged users and adds chapter websites allowing chapters to promote their events to the entire membership. ASM Connect enables the first technical discussion group (Residual Stress) to spin off into a technical committee. Article downloads for ASM Journals exceed 3.5 million per year.<\/p>\n 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n ASM\u2019s first Handbook focused on additive manufacturing, Volume 24: Additive\u00a0Manufacturing Processes<\/em>, is published.<\/p>\n 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n ASM International receives significant proceeds from the sale of Granta Design Ltd. to Ansys, Inc. based on the investment made by the ASM board in 2000.<\/p>\n 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n ASM embarks on a three year journey coined “The Renewal”, this journey re-establishes many aspects of ASM that brought it to prominence while digitally transforming the way ASM delivers value to its members and member led companies.<\/p>\n 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n ASM laboratory renovation accomplished through strategic partnerships with manufacturers of SEM, and light microscopy, metallography, and mechanical testing equipment.<\/p>\n 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n ASM redesigns its flagship publication, Advanced Materials & Processes <\/em>to enhance readability and visual appeal.<\/p>\n 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n ASM debuts a new brand platform, logo and identity.<\/p>\n 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n ASM celebrates its 100-year anniversary.<\/p>\n 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n Publication of 6 new ASM Technical Handbooks and the ASM Handbook<\/em>, Volume 23: Materials for Medical Devices<\/em>.<\/p>\n 2011<\/strong><\/p>\n Renovation of Materials Park is complete and ASM staff moves back to the historic dome.<\/p>\n 2010<\/strong><\/p>\n Renovation of Materials Park begins.<\/p>\n 2009<\/strong><\/p>\n New Corrosion Solutions Center and Energy Materials Center announced – first collaborative online database and networking products. ASM membership reaches 53,000 with 280 chapters in 17 countries. American Society for Steel Treating (ASST) becomes new name. Headquarters established in Cleveland.
