ASM HTS\/Bodycote “Best Paper in Heat Treating” Contest<\/h2>

The ASM Heat Treating Society established the Best Paper in Heat Treating Award in 1997 to recognize a paper that represents advancement in heat-treating technology, promotes heat treating in a substantial way, or represents a clear advancement in managing the business of heat treating. The award, endowed by Bodycote Thermal Process-North America, is open to all students, in full-time or part-time education, at universities (or their equivalent) or colleges. The winner will receive a plaque and a check for $2,500.\u00a0\u00a0Applications due date has been extended to April 1.<\/strong><\/p>

G. Bodeen Heat Treating Achievement Award<\/h2>

The George H. Bodeen Heat Treating Achievement Award was established by the ASM Heat Treating Society in 1996 to recognize distinguished and significant contributions to the field of heat treating through leadership, management, or engineering development of substantial commercial impact.<\/p>

The award is named in honor of George H. Bodeen, ASM President 1983, ASM Distinguished Life Member, FASM, and Founding President of the ASM Heat Treating Society. He is Chairman of the Board and retired President and CEO of Lindberg Corporation.<\/p>

Recommendations must be submitted to ASM no later than March 1<\/strong> of the year the award is to be presented.<\/p>

HTS\/Surface Combustion Emerging Leader Award<\/h2>

The ASM HTS\/Surface Combustion Emerging Leader Award was established in 2013 to recognize an outstanding early to mid-career heat treating professional whose accomplishments exhibit exceptional achievements in the heat treating industry. The award, endowed by Surface Combustion, includes a check for $4000. The winning young professional will best exemplify the ethics, education, ingenuity and future leadership of our industry.<\/p>

Recommendations must be submitted to ASM no later than March 1<\/strong>\u00a0of the year in the award is to be presented.<\/p>

ASM HTS Prime Contributor Award<\/h2>

In 2017, ASM’s Heat Treating Society R&D Committee established a new recognition for the best papers in the heat treat industry each year. To be considered for the ASM HTS Prime Contributor recognition, papers must appear in either the HTPro newsletter or be published in ASM’s Heat Treat conference proceedings. All manuscripts from industrial companies (not universities or national labs) are automatically considered on an annual basis. Papers are judged on several criteria, including production readiness, breadth of potential applications, and writing clarity, among other factors. The aim of the honor is twofold – to recognize outstanding industry-focused manuscripts and to encourage submissions to both HTPro and the Heat Treat conference, which takes place every other year. Prof. Valentin S. Nemkov Academic Research Award<\/h3>

Sponsored by Fluxtrol, Inc.
This is an annual recognition program for Post-Doctoral Researchers, Lecturers and Professors (Academic Researchers) that is presented annually at either IMAT or the ASM Heat Treating Society for the researcher that had the greatest impact on the event in the area of thermal processing of materials. The next award will be given at IMAT 2026 in Quebec City, Quebec, September 28 \u2013 October 1, 2026. Candidates are required to be present at IMAT 2026 and the winner will be announced at the event.<\/p>

This is a competition-based award and recognition program for young innovative scientists\/professionals, seeking to encourage participation in ASM HTS, and to provide attractive offers and opportunities in the worldwide Thermal Processing community. Fluxtrol and ASM solicit abstract submissions based on thermal processing of metal\/metal-containing components for this competition. This is a 2-step competition encompassing a poster competition, as well as an oral presentation competition for semi-finalists.<\/p>
