Participation Grants
A limited number of Participation Grants are offered to students who are registered for and participating in select IMAT activities. To be considered, please fill out our grant application via the button below before the September 2, 2026 deadline.

Passport Program
Get ready to explore! This interactive contest will guide you through key conference locations and events to encourage you to learn and see more. To participate, simply download the conference app when it becomes available and select “Passport Program” on the main menu. Prizes will be offered!

Perspectives for Emerging Professionals Symposium
Early career development and progression is some of the most crucial and formative time in one’s professional life. The ASM Emerging Professionals Committee is organizing these sessions on professional development themes such as networking, job hunting, career planning, ace the interview tips, etc. Additional details will be available closer to the conference date.

The ASM Game Lounge
Roll the dice and shuffle those cards – students and early-career professionals are invited to enjoy refreshments and drinks over (optional) casual games! No separate registration is necessary; however, attendance is limited/ticketed. To get a ticket for this event, see a current ASM Emerging Professionals Committee Member (indicated by a yellow ribbon on their conference badge) by attending one of their Perspectives for Emerging Professionals Symposium sessions occurring before this event. Tickets are based on first come, first serve. We hope to see you there!

DomesDay Competition – Registration Opening Spring 2026

Fluxtrol Student Research Competition
IMAT will offer a young innovative scientists/professionals’ competition-based award and recognition program, seeking to encourage participation of young scientists in the ASM Heat Treating Society, and to provide attractive offers and opportunities in the worldwide Thermal Processing community. We are soliciting abstract submissions based on thermal processing of metal/metal containing components for this competition. This is a 2-phase competition encompassing a poster competition, as well as an oral presentation competition for semi-finalists.

IMAT Student Poster Competition
The ASM Emerging Professionals Committee invites undergraduate and graduate students to present their research at the IMAT Student Poster Competition. This general student poster competition is open to all fields of materials science and metallurgy, providing a broad platform for students to showcase their work. Participants present their research through posters, which are evaluated by experienced judges from academia, industry, and government based on research quality, clarity, and presentation. Winners in each category receive cash prizes and are recognized at the Welcome Reception, while all participants gain valuable professional feedback and networking opportunities.
