Making New Materials at Ames Lab

Paul Canfield is a talented cook, whether it’s food or new materials for scientific study. He’s also a senior physicist and distinguished professor at Ames Laboratory and Iowa State University. Canfield knows that tomorrow’s inventions, whether next-generation wind turbines or supercomputers, need materials that don’t yet exist or haven’t been perfected. His lab along and other Ames Lab scientists are hard at work doing just that. Watch one such process in this video. Courtesy of Ames National Laboratory/U.S. Department of Energy.
