Practical Fractography, December 7-8, 2026, Virtual Only

Event Date:

December 7, 2026

Event Time:

8:30 am

Event Location:

This comprehensive 2-day course provides practical application of fractography through lectures and visual examination of failed components. Students will apply these concepts by inspecting actual fracture specimens, building competency in analyzing real-world failures. Students will develop skills to apply proper examination procedures, interpret fracture surfaces, identify failure origins and mechanisms, and analyze fractures across different materials including plastics, metals, castings, and powder metals.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

  • Failure Analysts
  • Engineers
  • Quality Assurance Professionals
  • Materials Scientists

 SUGGESTED PREREQUISITE

College-level coursework in materials science and mechanics

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Apply correct examination and documentation procedures for failure analysis
  • Interpret fracture surfaces to identify the origin, direction of crack propagation, type of loading, and failure mechanism
  • Distinguish and compare fracture features in plastics, metals, castings, and powder metals
  • Implement systematic visual examination techniques in failure investigations
