Corrosion, May 12-14, 2026

Event Date:

May 12, 2026

Event Time:

8:30 am

Event Location:

ASM International

Corrosion affects every industry—from automotive and aerospace to infrastructure, petroleum, pharmaceuticals, and beyond—and is costly, dangerous, wasteful, and unsightly. Yet corrosion can be predicted, controlled, and often prevented with the right knowledge. This comprehensive course covers the eight major forms of corrosion along with proven monitoring, prediction, and control techniques applicable to all metals. The emphasis throughout is on practical applications for solving real-world industrial corrosion problems.

Corrosion: Understanding the Basics will be provided and used throughout the course to help guide you in the learning process.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND THIS CLASS?

  • Civil, mechanical, chemical, and marine engineers
  • Plant managers and maintenance supervisors
  • Materials engineers and metallurgists
  • Design engineers and specification writers
  • Quality assurance and quality control professionals
  • Technicians working with metal structures and equipment
  • Chemical and petroleum industry specialists

LEARNNG OBJECTIVES

Upon the completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify the eight major forms of corrosion and which are of concern for specific applications
  • Relate the occurrence and severity of corrosion to the natural driving forces
  • Describe common corrosion test methods for various applications
  • Avoid many of the design traps that speed corrosive decay
  • Recognize applicable corrosion control techniques and their limitations
