TSS committees turn member involvement into real impact by developing programs, products, and services that keep our community at the forefront of technical advances.

Active Committees:

TSS Board

The mission of the TSS Board is to serve the needs of its members through the advancement of knowledge and networking.  TSS shall be the leading global source for thermal spray information.   TSS… your thermal spray information partner.

TSS Accepted Practices Committee

The mission of the Thermal Spray Society (TSS) Accepted Practices Committee is to serve as a comprehensive resource to the thermal spray industry for those topics relating to thermal spray process and coating characterization. This will be accomplished by enlisting industry experts who will oversee the generation and publication of reference documents relating to testing procedures and limitations, as well as advanced methods for process and coating characterization. Emphasis will be on educating the industry on the application of new testing and characterization methods as well as the proper methodology of existing methods.

In addition to more traditional topics such as metallographic preparation and mechanical testing, this committee, through its connections in academia and research, will offer tutorials and insights into new methods of process and coating characterization. Reference documents generated by the committee and subcommittees will be reviewed and approved by the TSS Board. Timeline to complete projects will be the responsibility of the Committee. Once completed and approved, these documents will be published on the TSS website and in iTSSe quarterly magazine, TSS eNews, and other publications identified by the Committee and based on subject matter.

TSS Awards and Nomination Committee

The Awards & Nominations Committee shall recommend to the Board the awards policy of the Society and shall be responsible for the awards activity of the Society. It shall recommend to the Board suitably chosen and properly qualified nominees for the various awards and honors of the Society.

TSS Thermal Spray Exposition Subcommittee

The Thermal Spray Exposition Subcommittee serves as a key interface between the exhibitor community, organizing subcommittee and the ASM-TSS staff. The subcommittee is charged with advising staff of ways to keep the trade show/events vibrant, active and beneficial to TSS and its members. Members of the subcommittee serve as ambassadors to the exhibitor community including exhibitor prospects. They carry the message of the value of ASM/TSS events to the business community and work with staff to ensure exhibitor satisfaction.

TSS Journal of Thermal Spray Technology Committee

The Journal of Thermal Spray Technology Committee shall identify major trends and developments in thermal spray technology and aid the JTST editor in manuscript acquisition in order to present timely and significant reviewed information to subscribers. The committee shall also maintain continual surveillance of the publication for technical quality, relevance and fulfillment of stated scope, and shall recommend changes to better meet subscriber needs.

TSS Membership, Marketing & Outreach Com

Based on the TSS vision, the MM&O Subcommittee shall develop an overall marketing strategy that supports product and service concepts as well as public relations programs to enhance the image of the thermal spray industry. It shall also focus on growing Society membership, increasing member satisfaction, and collaborating with other committees to strengthen the community and advance the mission of TSS.

TSS Program Committee

The purpose of the TSS Program Committee shall be to provide the leading forum for the exchange of information in the thermal spray community via technical programs, proceedings and expositions at Thermal Spray Society sponsored events and activities and to provide incentives for excellence in the research, development and commercial fields of thermal spray through appropriate awards and other means of recognition.

TSS Training Committee

The ASM TSS Training Committee is to develop, deliver and support training programs that will best serve the needs of the thermal spray industry and its personnel. To develop educational materials for training and to administer operator and technologist programs.

TSS Women in Thermal Spray (WiTS) Committee

The Women of Thermal Spray (WiTS) committee is dedicated to supporting and advancing women in the thermal spray industry by fostering networking, mentorship, leadership development, and career growth initiatives.
