The EDFAS Students and Young Professionals Committee

The EDFAS Students and Young Professionals Committee

The Students & Young Professionals (SYP) Committee is an EDFAS initiative that advances the Society’s mission to foster education and communication in the failure analysis community by developing programs tailored to students and early‑career practitioners—helping them build networks, develop essential skills, and connect with EDFAS resources. This may include:

  • Serve as liaisons to other EDFAS committees – including Education, Events/ISTFA Organizing, and FA Technology Roadmap committee.
  • Coordinate student/Young Professionals‑focused programming at ISTFA and EDFAS events such as help organizing EDFAS FA workshops at universities and organize ISTFA Student Poster Contest.
  • Host webinars and short‑format tutorials that introduce key FA topics and spotlight career paths.
  • Elevate emerging contributors across the EDFAS community by providing recognition and early leadership opportunities through the SYP Mentorship Program, supported by ASM Senior Members and Fellows.
  • Contribute content to EDFAS magazine and member channels.
  • Pilot initiatives that cultivate future EDFAS leaders.

An important function of this committee is helping its members make professional connections early in their career.
